he tends to overthink things, leading him to usually overpack for everything hhehe
Kingsley was an eternally nervous kid, always jumping at anything even slightly startling (Seriously, this kid couldn't even watch the most cheesy, lighthearted Halloween special without not being able to sleep for an entire week afterwards)
This fact was made worse due to him constantly having to move around due to his parents job, causing him to never get comfortable anywhere. his only real safe place was within his books, where instead of being an anxiety ridden child who couldn't even sit in a dark room for longer than twenty seconds, he could be a mighty warrior, or a kind and beloved king instead! his books allowed him to pretend to be someone he wasn't, someone brave and fearless... and nothing like him.
due to his tendency to escape into his own fantasy's, as well as the aforementioned 'constant moving' making friends wasn't something that came easily to him. he didn't know what to do, as he never really learned how to interact with other kids when he was younger. even just the simple act of talking to someone was terrifying to him, making socializing a total and utter nightmare.
as he got older, he started burying himself in school work rather than his books. it helped keep his mind off how lonely he was, and as an added benefit it made his parents proud! and he started working harder, and even harder, often driving himself to the brink of exhaustion after multiple night long study sessions... he didn't want his parents to realize how much of a screw up he was.
Eventually his hard work paid off! when he received that enrollment letter from NRC (of all places...) his parents where practically beaming with pride, meanwhile on the inside, Kingsley's heart was beating... fast. he already had moved around so much in his life, he didn't know if he could handle moving to the island, completely cut of from the rest of the world. never the less, he accepted the letter despite his reservations and prepared for his first day.
